An ASNAU financially-secured project has been realized in the form of NAU’s SnowJack Express, a free ride for students from campus to Arizona’s Snowbowl.
Andy Bourget, coordinator of NAU Outdoors, said the club had been working to have the project realized for a significant amount of time.

Students frustrated about the cost of their textbooks might soon enjoy some relief from new proposed state legislation that intends to help reduce the price students pay at the beginning of each semester.
Senate Bill 1175 is the result of extensive research done by the Arizona Students’ Association (ASA). They found that students on average pay $816 to $950 for textbooks and supplies each year.

On Sunday, the Arizona Commission for Post Secondary Education held College Goal Sunday in order to help individuals interested in attending college with the costs attached.

The Arizona Board of Regents recently approved a cost increase for construction of a research and teaching facility at NAU’s branch campus in Yuma. The cost raised from the initial $4 million requested to $6.5 million.
Construction of the new building is intended to begin this month and should be completed in eight months. Once finished, the facility will add new research opportunities and will add more four-year degree programs such as biology and engineering.

An influenza epidemic ravaged its way throughout campus this winter season; a year which has seen 6,924 cases of influenza nationwide.
“It is big this year,” said Dr. Timothy Fleming of Fronske Health Center.
Fleming said Influenza A and B, or the flu, is a specific respiratory virus not many students are familiar with. Symptoms include fever, headache, tiredness, cough, sore throat, runny nose and body pains.

More students attended NAU’s winter session than ever before, continuing a growing trend of students on and off campus trying to earn a few extra credits between semesters.
